Dr. Sheldon Saul Hendler
Sheldon Saul Hendler, Ph.D., M.D., FACP, FACN, FAIC
is the principal author and editor of the
PDR for Nutritional
Supplements, whose publication was considered a watershed
event.
Sheldon is
Clinical Professor (Voluntary) of Medicine, University of California,
San Diego, Attending Physician (Internal Medicine), Scripps Mercy
Hospital, San Diego, Professor (Honorary) Biochemistry, Universidad
Autonoma de Baja California, Editor-in-Chief,
Journal of Medicinal Food
(Mary Ann Liebert, Publishers) and Chairman, Vyrex Corporation, a
biotechnology company.
He has published in the
areas of
biochemistry, molecular biology, immunology, cancer research,
dermatology, and neurological research, among others. He was a
Postdoctoral Fellow at the Salk Institute where his research contributed
to the discovery of the fine structure of the chromosome as well as to
the development of the first antiviral and retroviral
drugs.
Sheldon serves
on the Scientific Advisory Council of Archer Daniels Midland and was a
member of the AARP Pharmacy Nutrition Advisory Board and the Scientific
and Nutrition Subcommittee of the United States Olympic Committee. He
has written several award winning books in the field of dietary
supplementation, including

PDR for Nutritional Supplements.
