Professor Rodney E. Shackelford

Rodney E. Shackelford, D.O., Ph.D. is Assistant Professor, Tulane University Health Sciences Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.
 
He coauthored Cell cycle control, checkpoint mechanisms, and genotoxic stress, The Ataxia telangiectasia Gene Product Is Required for Oxidative Stress-induced G₁ and G₂Checkpoint Function in Human Fibroblasts, Oxidized Low Density Lipoprotein Suppresses Activation of NFκB in Macrophages via a Pertussis Toxin-sensitive Signaling Mechanism, Aspirin Inhibits Tumor Necrosis Factor-α Gene Expression in Murine Tissue Macrophages, and Maleylated-BSA induces hydrolysis of PIP₂, fluxes of Ca²⁺, NF-κB binding, and transcription of the TNF-α gene in murine macrophages.

Rodney earned his B.A. at Western Washington University in 1985 and his B.S. at Western Washington University in 1986. He earned his Ph.D. at Duke University Medical Center in 1994 and his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at Des Moines University of Osteopathic Medicine in 2003. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Duke University Medical Center, Department of Pathology from 1995 to 1996. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the National Institute of Environmental Health Services from 1996 to 1999. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Stoddard Cancer Research Institute, Des Moines, IA in 2003. He was a Pathology Resident at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, Shreveport, LA from 2003 to 2007. He was a Molecular Pathology Fellow, Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, MD from 2007 to 2009. He was an Oncologic Surgical Pathology Fellowship at Moffitt Cancer Center, Tampa, FL from 2009 to 2010.
