Omar recently started hosting a weekly Future of Data Podcast discussing data, focusing on its security, privacy, and data economies. Omar was the Cofounder and Director of Engineering at the Entertonement later renamed to Hark in 2006, where he developed the original company website which supported 50 million people/month at its peak and aggregated the largest sound-byte archive in the world at the time.
In 2007, Omar became a hedge fund trader at Evolution Capital Management in LA where he traded, expanded upon, and then managed the fund’s founding market-making strategy. After a year, he continued there as a Financial Systems Engineer for the next three years in Tokyo. He developed a distributed signal generation platform for rapid strategy development and analysis, helping scale trading methodologies to optimize data.
In 2012, he moved up to become the Global Head of R&D at Evolution Capital Management for the next 5 years until 2017, where he managed a global group of teams spanning the entire spectrum of technology work at Evo, including trading, quantitative research, risk, infrastructure, and user interfaces.
In January 2017, Omar became the VP of Product Management at Sapho, a company Cofounded by his older brother Fouad ElNaggar. Sapho delivered a vision for the Future of Work with a product that leveraged intelligence augmentation to improve employee experience and impact employee productivity and engagement. Sapho scaled the product into many Fortune 100 customers before joining forces with Citrix.
At Citrix, Omar first became Principal Product Manager, and later in 2019 the Director of Product Management. They were defining the future of work and how to achieve it using micro apps. He was scaling Sapho’s omni-channel solution for a billion users, and fostering a community of partners and developers to leverage Citrix technology to empower employees.
After almost three years at Citrix, Omar cofounded Weavechain, a deep dive into how Web3 can make big data more secure and more valuable, combining collaboration, monetization, and blockchain immutability and provenance.
Omar earned his Bachelor’s Degree of Arts in Computer Science and Economics from Dartmouth College in 2007.
