Matti Eskelinen, MSc
Matti Eskelinen,
MSc is researcher and Ph.D. student at University of
Jyväskylä, Finland.
For his Ph.D. thesis, Matti is researching computer vision techniques
for
augmented reality applications on mobile platforms. His target is to
develop high-level computer vision methods to enable visual scene
understanding in mobile applications. The resulting scene models should
be sufficient for generating useful augmentations in real-world,
unprepared environments. The methods should apply equally well to
robotics, which is his other area of interest.
His scientific interests include computer vision, artificial
intelligence, statistical inference, augmented reality, personal
robotics, human-computer interfaces, and cognitive psychology. His
long-term research ambition is artificial visual
cognition.
Matti is married and the father of two sons. His personal interests
include
sci-fi (Philip K. Dick, Isaac Asimov, Arthur C. Clarke, Alastair
Reynolds, Babylon 5, Battlestar Galactica), music (Jean Michel Jarre,
Armin van Buuren, Muse, Coldplay), and philosophy.
