Dr. Kris Verstreken
Kris
Verstreken, M.D., Ph.D., MSEE is Medical Director at
IMEC and
Board Member at Flandersbio.
IMEC performs world-leading research in nanoelectronics and
nanotechnology. Its staff of more than 1,900 people includes over 500
industrial residents and guest researchers. IMEC’s research is applied
in better healthcare, smart electronics, sustainable energy, and safer
transport.
Kris earned his degree of Medical Doctor and his M.S.
degree in Electrical Engineering from the Catholic University of Leuven
(Belgium) and earned his Ph.D. degree in computer assisted planning and
placement of oral implants at the medical imaging center of the Catholic
University of Leuven (Belgium).
He then worked at Immersion Medical (US) and XiTact (Switzerland) on
medical simulation and robotics for endoscopy, laparoscopy, and balloon
angioplasty. Subsequently he was active at Agfa Gevaert (Belgium) in
business development and medical image processing. As CEO of
Archimedrics (Belgium), he did consulting and data mining for medical
diagnosis/therapy and financial trading. He started at IMEC as program
director biomedical electronics in 2008.
