Dr. Elsa Sotiriadis
Elsa Sotiriadis, Ph.D., MRes is a Synthetic
Biologist turned Entrepreneur, Keynote Speaker, and Futurist.
Elsa, known as the Biofuturist, is a globetrotting technologist with a background in startups
and emerging technologies. She has helped build 25 groundbreaking deep tech startups as an
early stage Venture Capitalist at SOSV.
As Program Director and Chief Futurist at the accelerator
RebelBio, Elsa coached founders using a hands on approach to turn innovations into
products to benefit billions of people. She was also engaged in advocacy, ecosystem
building, and sourcing for high caliber investment opportunities with a positive impact.

critically acclaimed poetry in literary magazines and anthologies (in German), including a
series on dark energy alongside Albert Einstein’s writings and writes near future science
fiction under the pen name
EA Solaris.
Elsa previously worked in finance for Bloomberg in London. She was also Lead Analyst and
strategy consultant at Pioneers.io in Vienna,
dealing with disruptive innovation technologies
across sustainability, energy, and high-tech, with a focus on digital biology, artificial
intelligence, and zero carbon smart cities.
Elsa earned an international Ph.D. in Synthetic Biology at Imperial College London and the
University of Hong Kong. At the former, she also earned a Master of Research in Synthetic
and Systems Biology. Elsa spent a summer term at Harvard University studying Environmental
Management. She completed a Mini-MBA at Imperial College Business School and earned a
Bachelor of Biotechnology at the University of Strasbourg in an international program.
