Dr. Raghav “RV” Sehgal
Raghav “RV” Sehgal, Ph.D. is the Director of Bioinformatics at the Healthy Longevity Clinic, Scientific Advisor and Consultant at TruDiagnostic and at LongevityTech.fund, and Investor at NaNotics. His research focuses on understanding Human Aging.
Raghav has 9 years of experience in applying data science and artificial intelligence to the biomedical space, as a scientist, engineer, product manager, team builder, academician, and entrepreneur. He has worked on projects ranging from cancer prediction to metabolic regulation, and has published in prestigious journals such as Nature. He has also received multiple honors and awards, such as the Gruber Science Fellowship and the Impetus Aging Grant.
Raghav has been a Fellow in the Cancer Biology Training Program at Yale University since 2021. The goals of the program are to educate graduate students and postdoctoral trainees on practical clinical issues of oncology and to prepare trainees to lead translational research on teams that include both basic scientists and clinicians.
He is also a Computational Biology trainee studying Human Aging as part of the Lab for Aging with Living systems under our Dr. Morgan Levine and our Dr. Albert Higgins-Chen. He is working to answer the questions “What biological systems drive aging? & how can we measure them?”, “Can we reverse these processes driving Aging?” and “How does Aging in these different biological systems and processes give rise to diseases like Cancer, Diabetes, Alzheimer’s and more?”
He is also building ML and Deep Learning tools using multi-omic (Epigenetics, Transcriptomics, Proteomics, Metabolomics) and multi-modal data (Whole body and Organular Biomarkers, Tissue Omics and Single-Cell Omics) to answer the above mentioned questions.
Between 2010 and 2020, Raghav was Postgraduate Researcher at Yale, where he led development of AIOmic, an Artificial Intelligence enabled Integrated Omics platform for the IOMIC Flux Core at the Yale School of Medicine. He also headed the Drug Metabolism Database project aimed to catalog uncharacterized metabolic changes from 500 drugs, in 50 different cell lines.
As Scientific Advisor at LongevityTech.fund, Raghav provides expert advice on their potential investment opportunities in AI technologies, digital health, medical devices, and diagnostics. He is also helping them raise their second fund by building strategies for potential investments in the future. LongevityTech focuses on investing in companies extending healthy life spans at Pre-seed to Series A stage.
Raghav earned his Master’s Degree of Science in Computational Biology and Bioinformatics in 2022 from Yale University. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree of Technology in Electrical, Electronics, and Communications Engineering in 2016 from the Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi.
Raghav began his career as Data Science Intern on the Prostate Cancer Dream Challenge at Elucidata in 2015. After his Bachelor’s, he became Full Time Data Scientist there, where he engineered custom AI enabled workflows to predict drug targets for industrial and academic Pharma labs. He also built and managed a proprietary ML backend for Elucidata’s data science products and platform.
In 2017, he became the Lead Product Manager, where he led product development of Elucidata’s products: Polly, an AI enabled drug discovery platform, and El-MAVEN, an Omics data processing engine.
Raghav moved to New Haven, Connecticut in 2019 where he was a Postgraduate Researcher at Yale. He began his Ph.D. studies in 2020, and in 2021, he was offered the Yale Accelerator for Innovation Development Fellowship by Yale Ventures, formerly known as the Yale Office of Cooperative Research (OCR). Fellows are involved in actively evaluating and enabling startups under OCR’s investment portfolio.
In 2022, he became the Scientific and Bioinformatics Consultant at Cambrian BioPharma. They are building therapeutics to lengthen healthspan, the period of life spent in good health. Raghav advised them on their clinical trial biomarker strategy as well as consumer facing product biomarker strategy.
